Armenia's plan for an SMR as its next nuclear unit (US FIRST pre-feasibility study, US-Armenia nuclear agreement)
Armenia's prime minister said in October 2025 that the next reactor would be an SMR. In February 2026 Armenia and the US completed negotiations on a civil nuclear cooperation agreement, which US Vice President Vance said means US SMR technology coming to Armenia, and in May 2026 a US-funded FIRST pre-feasibility study short-listed four US SMR technologies to replace the Armenian NPP unit.
