Philippine national nuclear energy programme (first plant targeted for 2032, SMRs among options)
The Philippines aims to have its first nuclear plant operating by 2032 and is considering either reviving Bataan or building a small modular reactor. In 2026 the government finalised a whole-of-government licensing flowchart and consulted on draft rules for competitive tendering of nuclear capacity. The programme is technology-neutral and has not selected any SMR plant or site.
