Louisiana Act 111 of 2025: small modular reactor environmental permitting

Louisiana's enrolled Act 111 of 2025 amends the environmental expedited-permitting statute so a qualifying small modular reactor application can use a federal permitting-parity programme. The applicant must state that purpose and point to a federal letter of collaboration on file. The act does not itself issue the permit, and the enrolled PDF does not print an approval date.

Legal and geographic scope

Enrolled act amending the state expedited environmental-permitting programme. For a nuclear application, the applicant must state that the purpose is development and construction of a small modular reactor and that the application is consistent with a letter of collaboration on file with the department. The letter may be with the president or a named federal department or the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The secretary adopts Administrative Procedure Act rules for the programme. The opened act uses small modular reactor without a megawatt threshold.

Not approved or still pending

The APPROVED line is blank, so no signature day or effective day is stored. The act authorizes a state environmental-permitting programme. It does not issue an environmental permit or a Nuclear Regulatory Commission licence. No project is linked.
