Louisiana Executive Order JML 25-074: environmental permitting review
On 24 June 2025 the governor ordered the environmental-quality department to prepare its permitting procedures for possible nuclear expansion and to report by the end of 2025. The order stays in effect until the governor changes it or it ends by law. It does not approve a reactor.

Legal and geographic scope
The governor directs the secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality to adopt procedures that include preparation for potential expansion of nuclear energy generation, and to report by 31 December 2025 on planned reforms, deficiencies, and any statutory or regulatory changes the secretary recommends. The order is effective on signature and lasts until the governor changes or ends it or it ends by operation of law.
