Fortum and GE Vernova Hitachi early works agreement for BWRX-300 SMRs in Finland and Sweden (2025)

In mid-2025 Fortum and GE Vernova Hitachi agreed to carry out pre-licensing and site-adaptation engineering aimed at deploying BWRX-300 SMRs in Finland and Sweden in the 2030s, after Fortum's feasibility study shortlisted the design. It is preparatory work, no site, order or licence application is recorded.
