SGE plan for a 14-unit BWRX-300 fleet at three UK sites
SGE announced on 1 July 2026 that it plans to build 14 GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 reactors on three UK sites and has applied under the Advanced Nuclear Framework through SGE SMR UK Limited. SGE expected site selection in the first half of 2027, it has not named a site. Press reports linking the first site to Oldbury are disputed: GBE-N says it holds no record of SGE interest in acquiring the land.
