Jordan Atomic Energy Commission SMR programme (vendor studies, floating plant at Aqaba considered)
After cancelling its two-unit large plant in 2018, Jordan's JAEC turned to small reactors, signing SMR cooperation agreements or MoUs with Rolls-Royce, X-energy, Rosatom, CNNC and others. In April 2023 its chairman said small reactors had been chosen for desalination and power and that a floating plant at Aqaba was being considered, technologies are still being compared and no site or vendor is chosen.
