Nebraska Public Power District Gen III+ SMR early site permit programme (DOE cost-shared)
DOE awarded the Nebraska Public Power District about $27.9 million under its Gen III+ SMR programme to obtain an NRC early site permit for a Nebraska location to support future Gen III+ SMR deployment. NPPD has narrowed 16 candidate communities to four finalists and formed a consortium with other public power utilities, no site, technology or application has been fixed, and NPPD says a larger reactor remains possible.
