Grenland Kjernekraft SMR proposal at Herre, Bamble
Grenland Kjernekraft, a Norsk Kjernekraft subsidiary, sent a notification with a proposed impact-assessment programme to the Energy Ministry on 27 August 2025 for a plant of small modular reactors totalling up to 1,500 MW. It points to an unregulated area at Herre in Bamble, south of the Skien port terminal, while other localities will also be assessed. Assessment work began in April 2026. No technology is selected and the capacity figure is not stored.
