Otrera precursor (first demonstration) reactor at CEA Marcoule
Demonstration proposal. Otrera New Energy, a CEA spin-off developing a sodium-cooled fast reactor, aims to start a first demonstrator in 2032; regional press reported in September 2026 that it presented its ambition to build this precursor at the CEA Marcoule site by 2032-2035. Otrera's own releases and the CEA page do not name the site, CEA has not confirmed it as host, and the precursor's specifications are not published.
