Norwegian Nuclear Commission report (NOU 2026:4): prepare for possible future nuclear power but start no process now…
The Norwegian Nuclear Commission, appointed in June 2024, submitted its report (NOU 2026:4) in April 2026 recommending that the government not start a nuclear power development process now but prepare for possible future use, including a national competence project. Ten notifications of proposed plants have been filed, apart from the Taftøy plan of several SMRs, which already has an assessment programme, the government awaited the commission before acting on them. The report went to consultation until 8 October 2026.
