SINAP thorium molten-salt reactor programme: 100 MWt prototype targeted by 2035
After the Wuwei experimental thorium molten-salt reactor achieved thorium-to-uranium conversion, SINAP said in November 2025 that it aims to complete construction and demonstration of a 100 MWt prototype by 2035 and work with SPIC and others on an industrial supply chain. No site, approval or construction is recorded for the prototype.
