SINAP small modular thorium molten-salt research reactor (10 MWe), Minqin

Research facility, not a commercial power plant. The siting-stage environmental assessments published by China's ecology ministry (July 2024 edition posted November 2024; January 2026 resubmission posted March 2026) describe a 10 MWe small modular thorium molten-salt research reactor at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics campus in Minqin county next to TMSR-LF1, with groundbreaking targeted within 2026 and first criticality in 2030. The thermal rating was revised from 60 MWt to 30 MWt between editions. The National Energy Administration's July 2026 report says preliminary design is under way. No regulator siting opinion or construction licence has been found; targets are not achieved milestones.
