Nine Mile Point Gen III+ SMR early site permit evaluation
Constellation (with NYSERDA cost-share) is pursuing a DOE-supported early site permit evaluation for one or more advanced / Gen III+ small modular reactors at the Nine Mile Point Clean Energy Center in Oswego, New York. DOE announced 14 May 2026 a $17,264,292 award to Constellation SMR Development, LLC to pursue an NRC ESP for a New York location supporting Gen III+ SMR deployment; Syracuse reporting ties that award to Nine Mile Point. Selected reactor design is not established. Funding supports pursuing an ESP ? not an approved ESP or construction authorisation. Distinct from existing NMP BWR units and cancelled Unit 3 large COL. No pin.
