Aalo Project Ascension power-reactor proposal at INL
Aalo's 4 July 2026 announcement identifies Project Ascension as a second nuclear reactor on the Aalo-X campus at Idaho National Laboratory, planned to produce 10 MWe for an on-site data center in 2027. This is an announced single-reactor power demonstration, distinct from the 10-watt thermal Aalo-X critical assembly. The company says work had begun; that does not establish physical nuclear construction. Gross or net electrical basis, thermal output, selected design version, licensed operator, power-reactor permissions and exact footprint are unconfirmed. Aalo's 30 July Crusoe partnership announcement describes a second reactor and a 2027 on-site Spark pilot but does not explicitly name Ascension or INL, so their equivalence is not confirmed. Its later 50 MWe intentions identify no individual sites. The existing Idaho Falls record preserves the 2024 seven-reactor utility-fleet proposal. The opened announcements do not establish whether Ascension belongs to or replaces that wider fleet programme.
