Kairos Power and BWXT commercial TRISO fuel development collaboration

On 3 September 2025 Kairos Power and BWXT announced cooperation to explore commercial TRISO manufacture, possible fuel supply for Hermes 2 and subsequent Kairos reactors, and a possible jointly developed fuel-fabrication facility. Existing US laboratories and BWXT production capabilities are inputs to the study, not a selected new factory. No firm fuel order, funded new facility, delivered fuel or reactor permission is established. The US scope follows the named Hermes 2 target, not every potential customer.
