Antares R1 microreactor siting at INL's Central Facilities Area
DOE's Idaho Operations Office approved planning and site characterization for the potential future deployment of an Antares R1 microreactor at Idaho National Laboratory in June 2025, and in August 2025 added three proposed locations at INL's Central Facilities Area. Antares describes the work as establishing and siting a permanent facility at INL to test and operate its microreactors. Reactor construction and operation need separate DOE review; no location has been chosen and no schedule or power rating is published. Separate from the Mark-0 and Mark-1 tests at MFC-793.
